Occupy only up to 2/3 of the sign panel area with graphics & letters.
Wall mounted signs should not exceed 70% of the frontage.
Make a distinction between pedestrian directed signs and ones for motorists.
Primary signs should be simple, not including phone numbers, business hours, sale information, listing of goods/services, brand names carried, or credit cards accepted.
Take the colors of the building into consideration and make the colors compatible.
Window signs are directed primarily for pedestrians and should be placed at their walking eye level.
Don’t overload or clutter. Messages will be lost with too much information.
Make the name of the business the star and the largest thing within the sign.
Don’t use too many fonts or different colors as it will be hard to communicate your message.
If you move it is highly unlikely that you will be able to reuse an existing sign from the old location.
